Frequently Asked Questions 

Q. How can I view the presentation without having an internet connection ?
A. We have a taping of the presentation on VHS and DVD that you can watch from a TV. There is also a copy of the web version on CD.  In order to view the web version you need to watch the seminar from a windows based PC.  The potential problems listed below still may apply.  Please contact the Graduate Office, 558-558-5704 or the Director’s Office, 558-5701 to reserve a copy of the media.
   
Q. Can I use Netscape or Mozilla Firefox to view the presentation ?
A No.  Microsoft Producers requires you to use Internet Explorer version 5 or higher
   
Q. When viewing the Streaming video I can not advance the slides in the table of Contents and the video seems sluggish.
Q. I can hear the audio but I can not see the video
A. You need to download a newer version of Microsoft media player.  Media player 8 or higher is required.
  Media player 10 for XP Media player 9 for Windows 98 me and 2000 Instructions for installing player
   
Q. I do not have the username and password to login to the site.
A. Please contact the Graduate Office, 558-558-5704 or the Director’s Office, 558-5701 for assistance
   
Q. I am getting a message about downloading the MS Office Animation Runtime.
A. Many viewers will need to download the 3.75 MB MS Office Animation Runtime before they can watch the presentation.  The reason is Office/Windows XP is installed on the machine.
   
Q. When I listen to the presentation I hear an annoying click how to I stop this ?
A.
To stop the click that you hearing while watching the presentation  This noise is Part of Internet Explorers default settings
Click on Start>Setting> Control Panel > Sound & Media > Under Sound Events scroll to "Start Navigation" Select "None"  for the sound to play.  Select Okay to save.
   
Q. I am still having problems seeing the presentation.

Windows 2000 and Office 2000 users Please install the below downloads before you watch prior to watching a presentation.  The updates will allow your machine to stream the video faster.
   
Office 2000 Animation    
Office Animation Runtime allows you to view Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 Web presentations that contain animations in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later  
     
Media player 9 for Windows 98 me and 2000 Instructions for installing media player
